Government Calls for Information from Retailers on Energy Usage

Government Calls for Information from Retailers on Energy Usage

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy have published a new survey, calling on businesses to provide information about their energy usage ahead of decisions on future Government support.

The Energy Bill Relief Scheme currently provides discounts on energy bills for businesses on both fixed and variable contracts. Any business on a fixed contract that started on or after 1st December 2021 is eligible for support, along with those on variable contracts. The discount is applied automatically to the wholesale element of the energy cost – businesses do not have to take any action to apply for or receive the support.

The Energy Bill Relief Scheme is running for an initial six-month period from October 2022, with a review due in the coming weeks.

The survey is part of the Government’s information gathering process to determine which businesses should be considered for longer term support, based on their energy usage and their viability. The full survey, which closes on Monday 24th October, is available here: https://beis.fra1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_cTob3uhBoMiwgOW

A full list of the questions within the survey is available for reference here
