Londis Retailer Meets with Local MP

Londis retailer Dharsan Premkumar hosted a store visit with his local MP Alex Norris, discussing policy issues including retail crime, business rates and deposit return schemes. The visit took place at Dharsan’s Highbury Road store in Bulwell, Nottinghamshire, which features services including parcel collections, National Lottery, home news delivery and bill payments.

Dharsan, who has operated the store since 2011, said: “It was good to have the local MP come down to visit my shop and know that he understands my business. I’m pleased Alex is pushing the case for better protection for shopworkers in Westminster, and for the chance to detail other crucial policy challenges convenience stores like mine are facing”.

Alex Norris MP commented on the visit, “It was a pleasure to visit Dharsan’s shop and talk to him about a range of issues that affect his business. Shop workers do a vital and at times difficult job, including effectively policing the law on the sale of items like alcohol, knives and glue. Shop workers deserve better protection against verbal and physical abuse – a case I have made in Parliament in the past and will continue to make in the future.”
