Supplier News: SECOM Unveil New Security Solutions to Tackle In-Store Violence

ACS published its Crime Report last month. The report uncovered almost 40,000 cases of violence against convenience store staff and found that more than a quarter involved a weapon.

COVID safety measures are proving a significant flashpoint for violence. According to the report, 65% of respondents had witnessed a covid-related threat to staff in the past year.

To help tackle this rise in crime, SECOM, a key player in the UK’s security industry, is bringing new solutions to the market. They include systems specifically designed to make businesses more COVID-secure and an internal security solution that offers even greater protection to store staff.

  • Internal Virtual Guard is like having manned guards on site. When staff feel under threat, SECOM’s trained operatives can see and assess what is happening from their Remote Video Response Centre (RVRC). Through the press of a button, they can view your CCTV and respond to an incident within seconds, issuing live voice challenges or alerting the emergency services.
  • Capacity Control accurately monitors the flow of people in and out of your premises so your customers know when it’s safe to enter and when to wait.
  • SECOM Announce is an out-of-the-box solution for playing customisable announcements in store. It is a cost-effective way to remind customers about social distancing and wearing face coverings.
  • SECOM’s Elevated Temperature Screening detects symptomatic customers at the door, preventing those infected with the coronavirus from entering your premises.
