Two Weeks until the UK General Election

ACS (The Association of Convenience Stores) are calling on all retailers to seize the opportunity to meet with local parliamentary candidates standing in their constituency by inviting them to visit local shops before the general election takes place in two weeks (4th July). This is a great opportunity to build key relationships with your future MP who will be working to ensure your needs are met and share key information with them that highlights the important contributions of the convenience sector.

Below covers the following manifestos at a glance. You can also view it visually here.

The Liberal Democrats’ Manifesto pledges to make sweeping changes to employment regulations and rights as part of their campaign to form the next Government.

The Green Party’s Manifesto calls for a four-day working week, a £15 minimum wage, and sets out a range of policies aimed at benefitting the environment and accelerating the transition to a net zero economy.

The Conservatives’ Manifesto pledges to cut taxes and reintroduce previous legislation if they were to form the next Government.

Labour have announced that they would ban the sale of high caffeine energy drinks to under 16s if they were to form the next Government.

The Reform Party pledge raise the income tax threshold to £20,000 per annum if they were to form the next Government.

We also released a new episode of the Local Shop Podcast where we spoke about the manifestos, what they mean for the convenience sector, and why they matter to the next Government. Listen on Apple Podcasts here.
