ACS has highlighted the upcoming challenges facing retailers on key areas like vaping, HFSS products, digital proof of age, and recycling at its Responsible Retailing Forum.

 

At today’s online forum, retailers and suppliers discussed the latest developments on HFSS in Wales and Scotland, upcoming environmental regulations including the disposable cup takeback scheme, developments in digital proof of age schemes to help prevent underage sales, and how vaping enforcement is being carried out to reduce the impact of illicit and illegal vapes on our streets.

ACS (the Association of Convenience Stores) has announced the finalists of the 2023 Raj Aggarwal Trophy, marking the legacy of independent retailer and community champion Raj Aggarwal.

The trophy will be awarded to retailers who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to community retailing over the last year, supporting their colleagues, customers and fellow retailers.

There is just one week to go until the exclusive launch of the latest installment of ACS’ flagship research project, ‘The Local Shop Report 2015’on 9^th September in Manchester.

ACS chief executive, James Lowman, will be unveiling the key findings of the fourth edition of the ACS Local Shop Report. One Stop’s Franchise Director, Andrew King and Scotfresh’s Managing Director, Shaun Marwaha, will be part of a panel of experienced retailers uncovering the effect the report’s findings will have on the convenience sector.

The Welsh Assembly Cross-Party Group on Small Shops, run by ACS, is hosting an exclusive reception to celebrate the contribution small shops make to the Welsh economy and the important role they play in their communities.

The reception on 1^st July, held at The Pierhead Building in Cardiff, will be attended by small shop owners from across Wales, Welsh Assembly Members and representatives from ACS and the Independent Retail Confederation. Edwina Hart AM, Minister for Economy, Science and Transport will be providing a keynote address at the Reception.

The ACS Forecourt Seminar tomorrow (3rd June 2015) is the can’t-miss event packed with exciting ideas and concepts for both existing forecourt retailers and convenience retailers looking to expand their store’s offering to include selling fuel.

This year’s event, held at the Hilton Metropole Hotel in Birmingham, will be split into three thought-provoking feature sessions looking at the challenges currently facing forecourt stores, examples of best practice from around the UK, and  uncovering ideas for the future.
